Labony Estate Puja This year our temple is in the form of 'Shivlinga.' With that thought in mind, this year we are emphasizing on the theme of 'Mahakaal' which symbolizes 'Lord Shiva'. Inside the temple the walls have been carved with different incarnations of Devi Mahamaya, viz Bhagawati, Kali, Bhadra Kali, Kapalini, Shiva, Kshamadhatri, Vaishnavi, Barahi, Nrishinghi, Indrani, Chamunda, Kattyaini etc. Mahakaal also refers to eternity. In our religious texts we often find that Shiva and Shakti unitedly fight against the evil powers and bring peace to the mankind. |

Labony Estate Puja A must see is the Durga idol modelled by master craftsman Paresh Nath who is physically challenged. Labony dhaakis are very famous for their acrobatic stunts and rhythm that has won them many awards in the recent past. Last year, Labony was runner-up in the 'Rhythmic Dhaker Lorai' competition. Their dhaaki team has always been the main attraction of their puja for which pandal hoppers stream the housing. This year make sure you don't miss their extraordinary performance which promises to be a visual treat for pandal hoppers. Also stop and enjoy their dhunachi naach which is also one of its kind in the township. |

Labony Estate Puja Cultural Aspect: Apart from usual sit-n-draw competitions and other talent encouraging healthy contests, the estate has maintained a very healthy and cultural environment. During Puja days, tune of Rabindra Sangeet freshens up the environment. People of all age group take active part in Dhunuchi naach. Little ones tap around their feet on the rhythm of Dhak. Women of the complex get busy in arranging every bit of the puja preparations. |

Labony Estate Puja Hall of Fame: This Puja is the oldest puja of Salt Lake since the township came into existence. The fact itself is a tell-tale of its heritage. Laboni celebrates their puja in the most traditional way. Just as Bengalees worship their Maa Durga and greets their very own Parvati with her four children in her maternal home. Maa will be decked up in her traditional manner. The mandap has been fashioned like a traditional Durga Mandir with some incredible rock craft. The ceremony will be inaugurated on Panchami, 12th October, 2010. |

Labony Estate Puja Labony Housing Estate that homes over 3,000 residents is organising their 35th Durga Puja. It is one of the oldest Durga pujas of Salt Lake. The pandal is being decorated with pictures of successful and powerful women who have made their mark in society. Lata Mangeskar, PT Usha, Suchitra Sen and Nargis are a few who will adorn the black and white colour scheme of the pandal interiors and models of the same will flank the inroads of the huge estate. Pictures depicting the girl child used are intended to make a statement condemning the social evil of female infanticide which this year's puja also hopes to bring to the fore. With a Rs 6 lakh budget, Labony has modelled its Durga idol in the estate. |

Labony Puja Fasion 2010 Kids wear has a bevy of choice that it becomes almost difficult to make the right move. Bright coloured and cherubic, they line up in almost all the well known shops of Kolkata. Trousers are straight fits with 6 pockets accompanied with jacket or zipper shirts for boys. Younger ones will enjoy the spiderman motifed shirts.  Kolkata, Oct 8, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Telecom service provider Uninor celebrated ‘Mahalaya’-the prelude to Durga Puja 2010- with ‘dhakis’ (drummers) across Kolkata, West Bengal’s Siliguri and Asansol towns. There presence also observed at Labony Estate Puja Premises. A procession of Dhakis travelled around the cities, rolling the beats of the drums in select pandals and thoroughfares. |
